Vang Vieng, Laos is a backpacker’s paradise teeming with travellers. Cheap eats and lots of outdoor activities like caving, tubing, hiking, cycling and swimming are on offer during the day and there’s a party every night. If you’re searching for accommodations, look no further than this list of the coolest hostels in Vang Vieng. 

Easy Go Backpacker Hostel

Easy Go is managed by a Brit who wants to make sure his guests are having fun and feel like a family. There are two locations and the new one has a swimming pool. PlayStation and movie nights make this picturesque hostel feel more like a sleepover. Easy Go has pre-game parties with the guests and then everyone goes tubing together.

CHILLAO YOUTH HOSTEL

Chillao Youth Hostel is a few blocks away from the river, but certainly a short walk to all of the major bars, restaurants, and attractions in town. With free WiFi, free breakfast, and free parking for those touring Laos via motorbike, this no-frills budget accommodation will fit the bill. Anything it lacks in ambiance, it more than makes up for with killer views from the rooftop.

VANG VIENG ROCK BACKPACKER HOSTEL

Vang Vieng Rock Backpacker Hostel is located in the centre of town and is quite a happening venue with a night club, billiards, foosball, and lots of organised tours and outings. A red and black motif suits that play hard, party hard rocker vibe. Happy hour, drinking games, and dance music mean you might want to stay in for a great night out.

ARMY BARRACKS HOSTEL

Army Barracks Hostel has a military theme complete with camouflage bed sheets. This hostel has shared dorm rooms and a variety of private rooms for up to four guests. Breakfast plus drinking water are included in the room rate. This hostel is in a quieter part of town and less rowdy than some of the other backpacker accommodations, but still close enough to walk everywhere in Vang Vieng.

Outland Hostel

Outland Hostel opened in the spring of 2017 and offers quiet accommodations on the outskirts of town, 1.9 km from the city centre. Free bicycles are included with your stay to make getting around Vang Vieng a breeze. Dorm rooms, bungalows, and private rooms are available with breakfast included. A jungle-themed bar is on the premises and organic, locally sourced menu items are served in the restaurant.

Real Vang Vieng Backpackers Hostel 2

Real Vang Vieng Backpacker 2 is near the river and has a floor dedicated to women’s dorms and a separate floor for men. This four-story hostel has balconies looking over the Nam Song and a pool table in the lobby. Breakfast is included and is served on the rooftop terrace.

Central Backpackers

Central Backpackers is quiet, clean, and conveniently located on the main road in the middle of town. The views from the upper level balconies look out over town to the river and the karst mountains beyond. Breakfast is not included but is available for a modest price in the restaurant on the ground level.

Vang Vieng Central Park

Vang Vieng Central Park is not a hostel per se, but if you’re looking for a quiet night’s sleep amid a party town in a place that won’t break the bank, this is it. An outdoor swimming pool fills the courtyard and breakfast is included. This is a clean, well-maintained budget hotel with an attentive staff for when a mixed dorm just doesn’t appeal.

Viva Guesthouse

Viva Bar is the place to be in Vang Vieng after midnight when many of the other watering holes close for the night. Stay upstairs at the guesthouse, away from all the action in the middle of Vang Vieng. Big balconies overlook the main road and the staff can help you book a tour or rent motorbikes or bicycles to explore on your own.
