While Laos isn’t known to rage all night, Pakse has a respectable nightlife scene with bars for everyone’s tastes in beverages, music and atmosphere. Come for happy hour and stay until the town shuts down.
SEB'S
Seb’s is a sports bar run by Adam, a Brit who’s been in southern Laos for years. He cooks up ribs, barbecue and all the fixings like onion rings and garlic bread for guests who sip beer Lao or cocktails while watching sports on the big screen or several smaller TVs. “Seb” is Lao for “delicious” and that’s exactly what you’ll find.
SÉSÉ WINE AND BEER
SéSé Wine and Beer is a cozy place to enjoy drinks with friends. Located on the ground floor level of a shop house in the Tha Luang neighborhood, patrons enjoy wine, beer and snacks such as cashews, charcuterie, cheeses and bread.
SEDONE TERRACE
The hotel bar on the top floor of the Residence Sisouk hotel offers patrons great views of the Mekong, Sedong and downtown Pakse through windows on three sides of the six-story bar. A full bar, and wine list including many imported from France, ensure a drink for every pallet is available.
THE BRICK BAR @ PAKSE
The Brick Bar @ Pakse has a funky ambience aided by old electronics used as decorations. Both indoor and outdoor seating is available. This bar is great for groups, has a Lao food menu and features karaoke.
PIZER BAR
Pizer Bar has a big outdoor patio area and a stage inside where local and Thai bands play nearly every night. Pizer serves up bar snacks like wings, fries and Lao food perfect for sharing. The attentive staff keep everyone’s glasses full in traditional Lao style: over ice and poured from big bottles shared by everyone.
THE LAO RESTAURANT AND BAR
The Lao Restaurant and Bar is run by local woman Vong, who also runs a tour company next door. She’s personable and offers great recommendations for things to see and do around Pakse. The Lao Restaurant and Bar serves cocktails, a full menu of traditional Lao food and of course, Beer Lao.
HAN SIN JANG
If you’re looking for the local party scene, you’ll find it at Han Sin Jang where crowded tables of young Lao people will be eating, drinking and listening to loud music, either live or pumped through the speakers. The menu is in Lao and the servers don’t speak a lot of English but this local spot is well worth it.
LE PANORAMA AT PAKSE HOTEL
Le Panorama on the rooftop of the Pakse Hotel has an excellent buy one get one free happy hour special each evening. The drinks ordered need to be two identical cocktails, beers or glasses of wine. Free appetizers and the setting sun over the Mekong makes this the most picturesque bar in Pakse.
ARAWAN POOL BAR
The Arawan Riverside Hotel and Conference Center is one of Pakse’s largest hotel complexes. Their Mekong Riverside pool terrace and bar is the perfect place to soak in the sun, take and dip and enjoy a cocktail or beer.
Brick House
Brick House is a sports bar and cafe in addition to being a field facility for soccer. Watch or play a game then try one of the magnificent pastries, smoothies or drinks on offer. A more extensive beer list, catering menu and cakes to order, sets Brick House apart from the rest.
